Every submission will be assigned their own unique DOI string to be included here. Abstract We present a stiffness-changing interface based on a magnetorheological (MR) fluid. The device consists of a material surface with elecro-magnetically induced visco-elasticity, which acts as a proxy for stiffness during tangible interaction with the material. We present several advantages of this enabling technology and outline potential applications and routes for future development.
